Ep. 15. The Art of Compassion: Facing Your Sensitive Inner Critic with Loving-Kindness

Reframing self-criticism as a pathway to healing—how highly sensitive people can meet their inner critic with love, not shame + a holistic mind-body journaling exercise to love yourself more.

🌿 What’s New at The Nourished Sensitive?

It’s been a busy and exciting season behind the scenes! If you’ve been following along, you might know that:

The Nourished Sensitive just launched its brand-new website—a beautiful home for our growing community of highly sensitive souls.
The TNS Membership is thriving! We’ve been hosting deeply nourishing Sensitive Sanctuary Circles and engaging workshops every other week, where we dive into healing practices together as a community of sensitive seekers.
I’ve been creating new resources to support you in embracing your sensitivity as a strength.

With all of these changes, I took a little break from the podcast—but today, I’m back with a topic that speaks not only to my personal journey of growth as a sensitive, neurospicy human, but straight to the heart of so many of us: our inner critic.

Today’s episode asks the question: what if our inner critic isn’t actually the enemy but an ally in our journey of personal growth? And what if, instead of silencing or battling that voice, we could listen to it with compassion and uncover the unmet needs and fears that lie beneath it?

Using that part of us to empower rather than limit our growth.

In today’s podcast episode and in our upcoming Sensitive Sanctuary Circle on March 3rd we’ll be exploring and answering that questions.

So, if self-doubt, perfectionism, or internalized criticism has been holding you back, I invite you to listen, reflect, and—if it calls to youjoin us in Sensitive Sanctuary for a deep, supportive community experience where we’ll practice facing our inner critic with loving kindness.

Episode 14: The Art of Compassion–Facing Your Sensitive Inner Critic with Loving-Kindness.

In today’s episode, we’re diving into a topic that many highly sensitive people and empaths struggle with—the voice of the inner critic. This internal voice often tells us we’re not good enough, that we need to be better, or that we’ve made a terrible mistake (or worse, are the mistake). For HSPs, this voice can feel especially loud due to our deep processing, emotional intensity, and high empathy.

Rather than fighting the inner critic or shutting it down, I invite you to explore a new and more empowering, way of relating to it—with loving kindness and curiosity.

In this episode, you’ll learn:
✔️ Why the inner critic exists and how it actually tries to protect you
✔️ How and why highly sensitive people internalize criticism more than others
✔️ The connection between your inner critic and unmet needs or unprocessed feelings
✔️ A powerful metaphor to reframe your relationship with your inner critic
✔️ A guided exercise to meet your inner critic with compassion and create a sacred contract to work together as a team instead of fighting each other.

Plus, I share a recent personal story about how my own inner critic showed up when I made a mistake in an email—and how my choice to respond differently led to deep personal growth.

This is a deeply supportive and healing conversation, especially if you’ve struggled with self-doubt, perfectionism, or harsh inner judgment as a sensitive human. 💛
