Dear lovelies,
The loon calls out into the stillness of sunset.
I pause, breathe deeply, and reflect on how special it feels to be here again. My home state. Staying with the family of a friend.
Silver Lake, New Hampshire.
Twelve months ago, I came here to process the slow unraveling of my old life. Not long before I started my journey down the East Coast and back, in search of home.
A long wilderness season. Of running. Of hoping distance, or a fresh start, could somehow soften and help me avoid the grief.
We never exchanged vows, but we built a life together.
Holidays, road trips, family visits, caring for our dog Mika.
It was love. It was real.
And these last twelve months? My divorce.
Back in this place, stability gently confronted me with truth as I allowed myself to remember. Tears streaming down my face, I scrolled through old photos and slowly came to terms with the fact that while the ending sucked, most of our 8 years together were good.
Just two imperfect people, with a load of personal issues, trying their best to love each other, heal, and grow together before inevitably growing apart.
Sitting on the beach, full circle from where I had started, my soul finally found a bit of peace.
Felt like a quiet surrender of an inner war. A big breathe of fresh air after months of running.
Like waking from a dream, I realized: there’s no place like home.
No way to find peace out there, because…
Peace itself is the way.
On the first of the month, I move into my new home carrying dreams for what this next chapter may hold for me. But this time, I’m choosing not to label it as a “fresh start” or a reinvention.
Just a continuation of the beautiful life, and the peaceful version of myself, I’ve been growing into all along.
Peace – a cessation of inner war that leads to greater presence.
In this April edition of Love Letter from Leah, let’s continue the thread of Presence we started back in January, Mindfulness from February, Beauty from March, Acceptance from April, and to all four, let’s weave in this latest thread of Peace for a whole new month of nourishment.
Below, I share a handful of nourishing resources and offerings that have been supporting my unfolding through this season.
I invite you to explore whatever resonates.
🖤 xoxo,
Leah
PS. Before we go further into this letter, let’s check in:
Where in your life are you being invited to slow down, stop running, and make peace with what is?
What have love, loss, and change been teaching you about yourself lately?
What helps you feel most present, grounded, peaceful, and at home within your life right now?
You may wish to journal privately, share in a reply, or leave a short comment on this post. I always respond thoughtfully. 🖤
