The Restorative Power of Movement + 3-Min Forest Bathing Meditation to Soothe Your Sensitive Soul
Embark on a journey of restorative movement and self-discovery with a virtual forest bathing meditation to nourish and soothe your sensitive soul.
Dear friends and readers,
Today, we’ll explore:
💗 how to make time for restorative movement—and intentionally honor your need for gentle movement.
💗 the power of integrating movement into your daily routine—and how it can support your well-being as a highly sensitive person.
💗 a virtual forest bathing walking meditation—to experience the calming influence of the natural world without needing to walk too far.
Before we step into our first day, I first want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you. Your support and readership inspire me to keep writing these love letters, and your presence and engagement are what make this journey possible.
Making Time for Restorative Movement.
The first light of day filters through the blinds as I blink my eyes open and reach over to check the time. It’s early—earlier than I’d hoped. I pause for a moment, tuning in to the familiar, dull ache in my neck and shoulders. It reminds me of the renewed commitment to strength training, as well as the fact that I live in a body.
Beyond the soreness, there’s something quieter—a lingering impression of the, at times, overwhelming depth of feeling with which I experience this life as sensitive soul.
I need something to restore my sense of balance.
In the past, I might have welcomed this soreness as a reason to roll over and skip exercise all together, but lately, a relationship with movement that’s rooted in love rather than force—intention rather than obligation—is my focus.
So, I take a moment to reflect: how can I move my body in a way that feels good?
I see it almost immediately—a vision of myself hiking the short 0.8-mile forest trail at Bald Pate Mountain and stretching my sore body toward the rising sun.
This was enough to convince me that getting up would do me more good than staying asleep. So, as the sun slowly rose with me, I headed downstairs, slipped on my hiking sandals and quietly shut the door.
Join Me for a Walk?
Yesterday, we explored the benefits of nature for highly sensitive souls in cognitively or intellectually—understanding, learning, conscious knowing. On today’s journey, we’ll explore the same, but through embodiment—feeling, sensing, inner knowing.
Embodiment practice is so vital in your toolshed or resources so I wanted you to experience it through a short guided meditation and forest bathing experience designed to help you ground, breathe, and reconnect.
If you’d like to walk with me, meet at the trailhead. 🥾

Also, go ahead and choose a song about 3:00 minutes in length from this Nature Relaxation Playlist. It will help you relax and feel more grounded in our walking experience. If you don’t have a Spotify account, here’s a free one.
Got your song? Before you hit play, there just one thing I’ll ask you to do. ⤵️
Share an intention for your (virtual) walk in the woods—how do you want to feel, what do you hope to gain?

Restorative Movement for Sensitive Bodies: Embracing our Sensitivity Along the Path.
As we complete our virtual forest bathing meditation walk, I hope you’ve felt a sense of calm and connection with the natural world as well as a greater ease to meet the day in front of you—whether you’re working, traveling or just existing.
As we learned in part 1 of this series, these moments of stillness and reflection in nature can be profoundly restorative, especially for those of us who navigate the world with heightened sensitivity. So, feel free to come back to this meditation whenever you may need it—especially when time outdoors is not possible for you.
May this experience also serve as a daily reminder that exercise doesn’t have to be strenuous or forceful to be effective. Rather, these gentle, mindful moments of movement are ideal for our sensitive bodies to feel connected, grounded, and whole.
Let’s carry this tranquility forward, shall we?
In our next post, we’ll continue our walk to the summit while learning how nature’s wisdom can offer us valuable insights and guidance for well-being.
With gratitude,
💗 Leah

My intention for this mediation is to release the ties to past and future, to be fully embodied in the present moment.
I loved the meditation, very relaxing. Daily moments of solitude are a necessary part of my self-care.
